Mine is sort of dumb, but I'll start it off. We were dirt poor growing up and Halloween was the only time of year we got candy. That's as good as it gets. My mom would go thru and get all of the good candy out. If we wanted a piece of what was left, my mom's boyfriend made us clean his feet to get it. YUCK. Try sleeping after that mental picture. I have a love/hate relationship with halloween.
p.s. I'll have to find my username, I will post it when I can. -

Ok a personal story...
On Halloween Day years ago, when my son was only 6 months our apartment burned down! Yep all the way down to the ground. A family member's child started it but luckily my son and I were napping in the living room so we were close to the front door and no one was hurt.
Salvation Army was amazing and put us up in hotels and gave us vouchers for food and clothing and some basics when we were moved into a new place. I still made sure though to take him trick or treating, after all it was his very first halloween and I've always believed in celebrating Holidays in a big way for kids.

Okay I have a true scary story. It may be long as you all know I can't tell a "short story" lol.
My Mom bought a small house years ago. She had the garage enclosed to give her more living space. Her old garage was her new dining room. She lived there by herself for about 4 years when your boyfriend moved in with her. He was in the National Guard was deployed several times overseas. One day, my Mom was at work and Tom (her boyfriend) was off work. He was standing in the living room when out of the corner of his eye he saw a man in a suit walking from the dining room to the hall way. Tom froze with fear and left the house. He went shopping just to get out of the house. He told my Mom about it and she told me. I teased her about "her" ghost.
About a two years later Tom was deployed back to Iraq for a second time. He got to come home for two weeks around Christmas time. My Mom enjoyed the time with her now husband. Three days after Tom went back my Mom called me because her power went out. She said she had nothing to do since it was still so early and she still needed to take a shower before work the next morning. I told her to take a shower in the dark after all it she could use candles. She said she was scared and told me every since Tom left she had some strange and scary things happen to her. She told me that she had heard and felt a sound and feeling like the wind blowing above her head a few times. Then she told me that she was in her spare bed room on the internet when she had the strong feeling some one was behind her staring at her. It spooked her so bad she left the room. I teased her and told her it was probably "her" ghost Tom had seen before. She didn't think it was too funny but I enjoyed messing with my Mom. Finally, her power came back on and we got off the phone.
Two days later, my Mom called me crying her eyes out. While she told me what had happened I started crying. She said she had went to bed the night before and tossed and turned. She was having a horrible time trying to sleep. She said she was praying "please let me get to sleep". She had to be up at 4:45 for work and it was almost midnight. She said the next thing she knew she felt someone touch her leg over the blanket. She got up and looked around and didn't find anything. She went and got back into the bed. She said she was laying on her side facing her closet. All of a sudden she felt her bed move on the opposite side like someone climbed into bed with her. Her heart stopped and then she felt someone reach over and put there arm around her stomach. Just when they did that she heard a man's voice right in her ear say "I love you." She screamed and jumped out of the bed as fast as she could. She turned on the light and could not see anything. She was so shook up she wrote a note to me and my sister just incase something happened to her in the middle of the night. After that night she never encountered anymore noises, weird feelings, sightings or touches.
I tried to do some research on the house but found nothing. I thought maybe someone had died in it because it was a rent house. I remember the man Tom had saw and it was like he walked through the old garage door and into his house. I don't know if it was a guardian angle looking over my Mom or what. I know the voice she described was a "gentle voice" but it still scared the heck out of her.
She moved sold her house a short time after that. I really wanted to contact an expert at the time this all happened but I think the man was gone and he was telling my Mom good bye. Either way, even though the whole ordeal was terrifying I don't think it was evil. -

Sorry for some of my grammar errors in my above post. I had my three son's running around the room waiting for me to take them outside while I was typing. I didn't have time to read before I hit the post button and now there is not a modify button to fix the errors. Oh and my user name is cnolley. Thanks!

Jerry was driving home late one night when he saw a young lady waiting by a bus stop. He stopped his car and told her that he didn't think the buses were running so late at night and offered her a ride. The fall night air was getting chilly, so he took off his jacket and gave it to her. Jerry found out that the girl's name was Mary and she was on her way home.
After an hours drive, they arrived at her home and he dropped her off by the front door. Jerry said goodnight and went home himself.
The next day he remembered that Mary still had his jacket.
He drove to her house and knocked on the door, an old woman answered.
John told her about the ride he had given her daughter Mary, and had come back to get the jacket he had lent her. The old woman looked very confused.
John noticed a picture of Mary on the fireplace mantel. He pointed to it and told the old woman that that was the girl he had given a ride to.
With her voice shaking, the old woman told Jerry that her daughter had been dead for many years and was buried in a cemetery about an hours drive away from there.
Jerry ran to his car and drove to the cemetery....
He found his jacket, neatly folded on top of a grave...the name on the gravestone was Mary!

username obrown34 well when i was young i stayed with my grandparents in mississippi while my mom came to ga to start a new life. The house my grandparents stayed in was H U N T E D .I dont know if it was because i was young 4yrs old but heres what happened.A man caught his wfe cheating and shot her to death on halloween night in the room my sister and i shared. When my grandparents bought the house and land, they had to paint the room the same color as the blood because any other paint the spots would bleed thru.Every halloween at around 11pm you could hear a woman and a man arguing then the bed would start to shake.Even 2 this day when i visit i wont sleep in that room. Also theres another house there if you can spend 1 week in the house you get the house,1 million $ and the land it sits on.Theres a lot of good scary stories from mississippi and if you want to you can google the witch that burned down yazoo county mississippi (where my mom was born)cackle cackle

At 16, a bunch of us gathered for Hallowe'en. Too old for trick or treating, immature enough to whoop it up.
We went to an out of the way cemetery, as, natch, bored teens on Hallowe'en are prone to do, to conduct a seance of sorts. We pulled out the Ouija board and 'tried to call the spirits'. Candles, board, location...mood and setting complete.
We were quiet and skittish and nervous (and maybe three sheets to the wind) and asked 'oh, send us a sign'.
Then...loud, many...the howls came. Like little school girls, we ran outta there, to our cars and were zoom, gone!
Hell hounds? Wolves?
We drove back the next day, in light of day. Right beside the cemetery?

Come on, a few more Halloween stories or pranks! You can also post facts and trivia about it (hint: Google it:) )
Creepy Factoid: If you see a spider on Halloween, it is the spirit of a loved on watching over you.
That's cool Natalie. I have never heard that one! Nice thought though. I know I have already one once and I don't want another chip but I have one more story to tell:
Again...this is true and freaked me out!!!! When "The Ring" movie came out we bought it. I was pregnant with my second son, Linden. Our 16 year old nephew decided to come stay the night and another friend came over for a visit. My husband and I had already watched movie but we liked it so much I wanted the others to watch it.
We had already watch 2 movies and then we watched "The Ring". My husband fell asleep on the couch during the movie. At about 4 a.m it ended. Our friend left. The credits started rolling on the tv. My nephew went to the guest bathroom. All of a sudden I heard a demonic voice like "ah ah oh oh ah". I can only really describe it with my voice. I was in my favorite chair when I heard it. It sounded like it was coming from the laundry room. I called Josh's name (nephew) because I thought maybe he heard it. He came back from the bathroom and asked what I wanted. I asked him if he made that noise or heard it. He had only heard me call his name. I was so so so scared to go to sleep that night. I tried with all my mite to wake up my husband with no luck.
I went to bed alone. I was laying on my stomach (bad habit and I was like 6 months pregnant too). I was almost asleep when it was like someone came running and jumped on my bed. My whole bed went down and my head board it the wall with a bang. My heart sank and I froze. I could not move. I was too scared to get up. I still do not know what it was to this day. I have thought about it many times since. I think it was a ghost because in order for my bed to move like it did and my head board hit the wall they had to be running when they jumped. There is not enough room to get a running start so they had to come from the kitchen and run through the wall into my bed.
I just had to tell this story because of Halloween. Come on guys.......free chips.....post your story and good luck! -

dtsweet: ! I have a Beagle. I just had to show this story to my husband; you have no idea how many complaints we receive from the neighbors, because all our Beagle does is to howl all night long in our front yard. Can you please give me your player ID?

A few fun Halloween facts:
Orange and black are Halloween colors because orange is associated with the Fall harvest and black is associated with darkness and death.
Jack o’ Lanterns originated in Ireland where people placed candles in hollowed-out turnips to keep away spirits and ghosts on the Samhain holiday.
Pumpkins also come in white, blue and green. Great for unique monster carvings!
Halloween was brought to North America by immigrants from Europe who would celebrate the harvest around a bonfire, share ghost stories, sing, dance and tell fortunes.
Tootsie Rolls were the first wrapped penny candy in America.
The ancient Celts thought that spirits and ghosts roamed the countryside on Halloween night. They began wearing masks and costumes to avoid being recognized as human.
Halloween candy sales average about 2 billion dollars annually in the United States.
Chocolate candy bars top the list as the most popular candy for trick-or-treaters with Snickers #1.
Halloween is the 2nd most commercially successful holiday, with Christmas being the first.
Bobbing for apples is thought to have originated from the roman harvest festival that honors Pamona, the goddess of fruit trees.
Black cats were once believed to be witch's familiars who protected their powers -

On Oct. 31, 1998 a friend of mine invited me to join her and her family on a trip to a Haunted House. She also invited her brother-in-law. Well to make a long story short I have been trying to return him to the haunted house for the past 12 years with no luck lol.....No he is a great man and we have been happily married for almost 8 years and have 3 wonderful little boys. That was the best invite I will ever get! So I gotta love Halloween.

PHONECALL FROM HEAVEN......
In 1999 my husband went to the hospital because he had a gumboil which needed to be fixed in an operation under anastethic.
That day in june was sunny and hot so I was doing the garten before I went to the hospital to see him after the operation
While I was in the garden I was thinking about him, and was hoping that he was not going to die from this gumboiloperation ( why I was thinking about dead I dont know) because he had 2 other accidenst fare more dangerous that he survived, carcrash and a braindamage.
Then the phone rang.....from the hospital....my husband was dead!!!!!! the headdoctor strangled him, she performed the wrong anestathic.
Then another strange thing happend.
He was taken to another hospital where they made the autopsy, and after that we could say goodbye to him. We were waiting in another room and he was laing in the room besides us, but suddenly the door opend a litlle (this still gives me the goosepimpel) but nobody was there to open that door!!!!.....only my dead husbond.....it was like he was saying come on in and say goodbye for ever.
I remember this as it was yesterday.
Scary, yes indeed, was for me.
