How can I judge a gift.. Me personally love every gift I have ever gotten. I do not have a favorite gift. I would never put that label on a gift for the fact I might hurt another persons  feelings.. I use or wear every gift no matter of the color....LoL or what it is.. To show that I love it. I will not re gift or take any thing back unless I bought it..lol. To me Christmas is about giving not receiving. Every year we all drive our self crazy trying to find that perfect gift , best gift ever and we think sometimes we nailed it just to find out they regifted or returned it. So I know what it feels like and I do not want to ever do that to anyone. I know that not all gifts are bought , that they are made with love.. I  still show that I love it.

I don't know if this is actually considered a gift by most but it sure was to me!

My husband's job had him working away from home for approximately 5 months.  He works offshore so me going to visit was out of the question.  I had been hoping since he had been gone so long the company would let him have a week off at Christmas and New Years.

Well he asked about getting the time off and was told that they were trying to give priority to employees that had families with young children.  I was so disappointed when he told me this.  This was going to be the first Christmas in 22 years that our family wouldn't be together.  I was thinking how I am going to make this a happy family holiday without the leader of our little tribe.

Our family always got together Christmas Eve and we opened one present each.  Well Christmas Eve rolled around and everyone had come to my house.  I tried very hard not to cry when it came time for everyone to open their one gift.  I was watching everyone open their gifts, especially the little ones with the surprises on their faces.  I didn't feel like opening my gift because it just didn't feel right without my husband. 

I was about to open my gift when my son said, "Mom don't open that one we want you to open this one."  I just waited and said OK.  He walked outside and then he yelled, "Mom you have to come out here its too heavy to carry."  I couldn't figure out what in the world he could be talking about.  So, I walked outside and there on our patio was a giant gift wrapped box.  Everyone inside had come outside and were shouting, open it, open it.  I was a little scared because it was so big.  I started tearing the paper off when all of a sudden my son lifted the box up and there stood my husband grinning!  I just fell to my knees crying! 

Well needless to say, that still to this day my family has not missed a Christmas together and I sincerely hope it stays that way for several more years!
